Don't let the cats get the birds
During breeding times there are always many young, inexperienced birds which fall prey to cats. If you follow these tips, you can avoid birds becoming prey for cats whilst they are eating or resting in your garden in the summer but especially during the winter months.
1. Make sure your cat always wears a bell so that the birds can hear her coming.
2. Cats often sit waiting by inhabited nesting boxes. Hang your nesting box at least two metres off the ground and in a place which is difficult for cats to reach so that cats cannot get to the birds.
3. Finally, it's a good idea to have you cat sterilised or castrated so that they lose some of their hunting instincts.
Hopefully these tips will help you to enjoy a garden full of life next winter!
